While unloading at a port in the Odesa region, a vessel flying the Togolese flag came under enemy fire. There are fatalities and injuries.

According to Ukrinform, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba, reported this on Telegram.

“Russia struck a civilian merchant ship flying the Togolese flag while it was unloading mineral fertilizers. A fire broke out after the ship’s superstructure was hit. Unfortunately, three crew members were killed,” the statement reads.

According to Kuleba, five more sailors were injured. All the victims have been hospitalized and are receiving the necessary medical care.

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority added that the shelling also damaged port infrastructure and other civilian facilities within the port area.
