Morning Live's Greg Rutherford and his partner Susie Verrill were in Southampton when their daughter Daphne had to dash to A&E, her second hospital visit in two years10:54, 13 Jul 2026Updated 10:54, 13 Jul 2026Greg Rutherford was left terrified after daughter Daphne was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after a nasty accident on a trip to the park and he was a hundred miles from home.‌The Olympian, who starred in Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, had to wait by the phone as the five-year-old was taken to get medical help. He and fiancee Susie Verrill were in Southampton and with Daphne, she got into trouble on a day out in Milton Keynes when she was being looked after.‌It came just two months after their seven-year-old Rex was taken to A&E with appendicitis, and had to get his appendix removed. His daughter has also been through a lot, and broke her radius and ulnar. She's on the mend now and Greg took to Instagram to show the girl cuddling a teddy as she sat in her hospital bed.‌Daphne, who had just suffered a bout of chicken pox, looked happy to see her mum and dad as she was photographed with a bandaged arm. Susie planting a kiss on the youngster's forehead before they could take her homeIt is the second hospital dash they have made with her in two years. Back in 2024, the family needed help after the tot struggled to breathe.‌In his caption, Greg wrote: “Poor Daph it’s only been a minute since she went back to school after chicken pox (and only a day since me posting about it) and while me and @susiejverrill were in Southampton, we had a call to say she’d had an accident at a park and it looked like she’d broken her arm.“And indeed she has broken radius and ulnar. Thanks so much to staff at Milton Keynes hospital for being incredible… she was so scared but they really put her at ease and she was made up with her matching broken arm-ed teddy.‌“Home now and working out she can still do loads of stuff with just one arm”.Greg revealed earlier this year why he hasn't slept in the same bed as his partner Susie for years.The Morning Live presenter filmed a feature for the popular BBC magazine show following the news that 16 percent of UK coupes now sleep in separate rooms.‌"Sleep divorce", which is the practice of couples choosing the sleep in separate beds or rooms to improve sleep quality, often driven by snoring, differing schedules, or restlessness.Despite the negative name, it is a proactive step that can increase total sleep time, enhance relationship satisfaction and reduce resentment caused by chronic sleep disruption."It's so important to me, in fact, a few years ago me and my partner decided we'd try separate beds to see how much we interrupt each other's sleep," he said.
