Indian actor Akkineni Nagarjuna was born on August 29, 1959, in Madras (Chennai) and is the son of veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Annapurna. Nagarjuna, who has acted in over 100 films, is also a film producer, television presenter, as well as an entrepreneur. Nagarjuna, born in a Telugu-speaking family, moved to Hyderabad and completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School. He is a BS graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He has predominantly starred in Telugu films, besides Hindi and Tamil language films, and has received several awards, including three Filmfare Awards South, nine state Nandi Awards, and two National Film Awards. Nagarjuna started his career as a child artist and featured in the Telugu film ‘Sudigundalu’ in 1967. He made his debut as a lead actor in ‘Vikram,’ a 1986 Telugu film which was the remake of the Hindi film ‘Hero’ that was released in 1983. The film went on to be a hit, thus kickstarting Nagarjuna’s career.
