As Britain basks in another hot summer, many will be eagerly eyeing a refreshing pint of lager or cool cider.

But increasing numbers are opting for something in between. Jubel fruit beer has taken Britain by storm and looks set to establish itself as one of the nation's favourite tipples.

Jesse Wilson, the brand's founder, is nursing a pint of Jubel's original peach-flavoured lager when I arrive at the Oyster Shed, a trendy City pub on the banks of the Thames.

While the concept of a fruit-flavoured beer may leave traditional pubgoers cold, the 33-year-old tells me that the brand is reeling in a new generation of drinkers that prefer his sweeter lagers over classic bitters.

Since launching Jubel with its signature peach flavour in 2018, he has added more flavours to its roster including grapefruit, mango and blood orange, many of which are now served on tap in pubs as well as being stocked by supermarkets such as Tesco.
