Head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) Serhii Tomilenko thanked German journalists for their solidarity with Ukraine and their support for Ukrainian journalists and local newspapers that continue operating near the front line during the 80th anniversary celebration of the Bavarian Journalists' Association in Munich.
This was reported by an Ukrinform correspondent in Germany.
"Sometimes people ask me, 'Who helps Ukrainian journalists the most?' My answer is always very simple: our colleagues. Journalists from other countries. And when I speak about our colleagues, I very often mean our friends from Germany... and especially from Bavaria," Tomilenko said.
He recalled that after his speech at the German Journalists' Association (DJV) congress in Ingolstadt at the end of 2024, journalists across Germany launched a fundraising campaign to support frontline journalism in Ukraine and the Journalists' Solidarity Center.
"Thanks to your support, local frontline newspapers have continued publishing. Your support sent a message to every Ukrainian journalist: you are not alone," the NUJU chairman said.
