A middle-aged woman, Mrs Affiong Peters, has died after she reportedly slumped shortly after alighting from a commercial bus in Calabar, Cross River State.

The incident occurred at about 11:30pm on Saturday at Edgerly, along William George Street, in the state capital.

The Cross River State Police Command said the incident was reported at Atakpa Police Station by the driver of the mini-bus, Okon John.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, Mrs Peters had alighted from the vehicle alongside seven other passengers when she suddenly sat on the ground and became unresponsive.
