A speeding SUV that hit parapet wall of a bridge at Nathampatti near Srivilliputtur claimed three lives on Sunday.

Three persons, including a woman passenger, P. Angalaeswari, 40, of Watrap were killed when a speeding SUV rammed against the parapet wall of a bridge near Nathampatti on Sunday.The other deceased were identified as the driver, B. Boopathi, 28, and one P. Karthik, 38.The police said that the driver, Boopathi, had taken with him a family of nine members from Watrap to a temple in Maruthangudi in Sivaganga.While returning home Boopathi had lost control of the speeding vehicle. The SUV had suddenly swerved from left to extreme right and rammed against the parapet of a bridge at Nathampatti at around 3 p.m.In the impact of the accident, half of the bonnet was completely damaged.Both Boopathi and Karthik were killed on the spot. Angalaeswari succumbed to injuries at Srivilliputtur Government Hospital.The other injured were P. Servai, 49, S. Veeralakshmi, 45, S. Kavitha, 13, S. Aswin, 10, S. Lakshmi, 26 and S. Dhanalakshmi.
