The Sky Wars interceptor unit of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Magura has destroyed a rare Russian Orion reconnaissance and strike drone, which can carry guided aerial bombs and Russia's new S8000 Banderol cruise missile.
The Brigade announced the strike on Facebook and released footage of the operation, according to Ukrinform.
"The Sky Wars air defense unit of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Magura destroyed a 'marvel of the Russian defense industry' – a copy of the Turkish Bayraktar – the Orion, worth $7 million. An ordinary interceptor drone can't catch it, but Sky Wars pilots managed to do just that," the Brigade said.
The Orion is a rare operational-tactical reconnaissance and strike UAV used by Russian forces. It is capable of carrying KAB-20 and KAB-50 guided aerial bombs, Kh-50 missiles, various types of drones, and Russia's new S8000 Banderol cruise missile.
