Umluj: Beekeepers in Umluj governorate, Tabuk region, have begun harvesting and extracting samr honey, benefiting from the widespread presence of samr trees across the area’s plains and valleys.
Umluj is renowned for its abundant samr trees, scientifically known as Vachellia tortilis, which produce one of the Kingdom’s finest honey varieties. Samr honey production has so far exceeded five tonnes, with harvesting continuing throughout the season.
Tabuk’s natural advantages have helped develop the beekeeping and honey production sector. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture supports beekeepers through sustainable rural development programs that improve production efficiency, enhance product quality and strengthen the sector’s economic sustainability.
Samr honey is one of Umluj’s best-known products. It enjoys strong demand for its high quality and distinctive nutritional properties, reinforcing the governorate’s position as one of the Kingdom’s leading honey-producing areas.
