A 57-year-old man was killed after a pickup mini truck knocked him down and overturned on the Kudimiyanmalai-Parambur road at Seegampatti in the district on Sunday. About 30 persons, who were travelling in the vehicle, were injured. The police gave the name of the deceased as Vellaisamy of Seegampatti.Police sources said Vellaisamy was standing on the roadside when the driver of the mini truck apparently lost control and knocked him down. The vehicle overturned thereafter. Vellaisamy died on the way to the hospital. The injured were admitted to the Pudukottai Government Medical College and Hospital.
