Actor and public servant Alfred Vargas broke his silence after the Office of the City Prosecutor denied his Motion for Reconsideration regarding the junked criminal complaint he filed against the parents of his seven-year-old son's alleged bully.
Vargas previously filed a complaint under Republic Act No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) following an incident at a competitive swimming event. According to the actor, the ruling erroneously applied the framework of Republic Act No. 10627 (Anti-Bullying Act), which handles school-based administrative complaints, instead of the Child Abuse Law.
Expressing deep sadness and frustration, the celebrity father questioned the dismissal, noting that their team presented solid eyewitness testimonies and an official psychiatric evaluation from St. Luke's Medical Center diagnosing his son with Adjustment Disorder.
