The sixth batch of stranded Nigerians evacuated from South Africa Amid the ongoing xenophobic violence, has arrived in Nigeria, with 40 returnees landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday.
The latest group was received by officials of the Nigerian government and several partner organisations in an exercise aimed at reintegrating Nigerians who had been stranded in South Africa.
The returnees expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for approving their immediate evacuation from South Africa, describing the intervention as timely and lifesaving.
They also thanked Nigeria's Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Temitope Alexander-Ajayi, for coordinating the evacuation process.
