The second batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived in Lagos, as the Nigerian Government continues efforts to repatriate citizens who had been stranded in the country amid Xenophobic attacks.

This development was communicated in a statement issued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on Thursday.

It was noted that a group of 66 returnees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, at about 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The latest arrival comes nearly two weeks after the first batch of 258 Nigerians was evacuated from South Africa and brought home aboard a chartered Air Peace flight on June 11, 2026.

NIDCOM disclosed that the second evacuation flight was facilitated by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Value Jet, Otunba Kunle Soname, while officials of the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa accompanied the returnees to Nigeria.
