After appearing rather pumped up and ready to go during his iconic walkout, the moment was short live after he injured his right leg after throwing a spinning kick right from the first bell. The 37-year-old landed rather awkwardly on his right side and continued to slip and fall to the canvas, before the referee eventually waved off the contest. It came just minutes after Pimblett stunned the world after choking out Benoit Saint Denis in under a minute in the co-main event.Pimblett rushed backstage to fulfil media obligations, but was chomping at the bit to catch a glimpse of McGregor's return. And after watching it all unfold, the Liverpudlian offered a rather brutal assessment, stating: "Oh my god, McGregor's done already? He's finished, the new boy is in town. I can become the face of the organisation now."FOLLOW OUR FIGHTING FB PAGE! But after suffering yet another brutal leg injury inside the cage, Saturday night's meeting with Holloway could be the last time fans see the Irishman in the cage. But Holloway hopes that is not the case after calling for a trilogy. "Let's give it up for Connor [McGregor], what an absolute animal. You guys are lucky because there is going to be a Holloway v McGregor three now. Let's get that money," he told UFC commentator Joe Rogan."It is what it is. I'll sit down with the UFC. There was so much hype for that. We have to run it back one more time. We need one more. I was looking forward to this. I was working hard to get to 170 [lbs] and fight this guy. For it to end like this, it sucks."McGregor has not won a fight since knocking out Donald Cerrone in under a minutes six years ago and well and truly looked a shadow of his former self in the cage against Holloway tonight.Despite the rather unfortunate ending to UFC 329, tonight arguably belonged to Pimblett - who put the division on notice with a stunning display in Las Vegas. The 'Baddy' pounced after Saint Denis threw a wild low kick in the opening exchanges of the contest. The Scouse scrapper was quick to grab a hold of the Frenchman and eventually take the fight to the canvas before choking him unconscious.Speaking after his fight, a confident Pimblett said: "Sub of the year! I knew he was out. I had to say to the ref 'he's not conscious' and he had to check him. I told everyone all week, try to grab my legs and I will choke him unconscious."I'm like a spider. When I've got hold of you, you don't get out and it's as simple as that. Everyone counted me out. Everyone said I was finished because I lost to Gaethje but what now? Am I finished? Who wants it next? I'll beat Ilia [Topuria] up, I'll rematch Justin [Gaethje], I'll fight Conor [McGregor] or Max [Holloway] next. Give me everyone and I'll punch their head in."Article continues belowChoose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.UFCConor McGregor
