SportFootballEngland football teamEngland beat Norway 2-1 tonight in Miami as Mick Jagger and David Beckham joined the Three Lions celebrations. The win means England are now into the last four of the World Cup02:07, 12 Jul 2026Another game, yet another sensational win for England. What an extraordinary night here in Miami. The party city of the world will see the mother of all parties tonight and on Sunday. South Beach better be ready for it. To see David Beckham join in singing WonderWall on the giant screens was brilliant. But the moment that will stick with me was the huge roar when substitute Dan Burn - who was working in Asda 10 years ago - headed the last Norway cross clear and the referee blew the final whistle. After shaking hands England players lined up arm in arm for the Wonderwall anthem. The singing of Hey Jude was simply spine-tingling.After Wonderwall the players headed to the section in the stand where their families were sitting. They applauded them before heading down the tunnel. Then Robbie Williams got his brief chance of glory after the players left the pitch as the England fans bellowed out Angels. It was particularly poignant for me as 46 years ago I was at the last match when England beat Norway in the World Cup.It was a qualifying match in September 1980. My ticket cost £3.50 - a lot less than then £3,000 fans were paying today, It has been a long journey. There were some extraordinary scenes during the day. Half an hour before any fans had even been allowed into the stadium somehow three St George’s flags had been fixed to the fencing behind one of the goals.Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Some fans bought double 12 year old deluxe blended Scotch Buchanans whisky for £22. Others settled for frozen margaritas and strawberry daiquiri's for £25.“You don’t have cocktails at sports events in England?” asked a bemused bar tender.“They are very popular here!” It was the end of the match and she gave me a free one. It was that kind of day.Article continues belowFollow our live blog for the latest World Cup updates by clicking here.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.David BeckhamWonderwallEngland football teamWorld Cup qualifiers
