Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Dr. P. Narayana has approved a modern Garbage Transfer System (GTS), estimated at nearly ₹9 crore, aiming to provide a long-term solution to the long-standing dumping yard issue faced by Gajuwaka residents, particularly in Ward No. 76.The proposed facility will introduce scientific waste handling practices, reduce environmental pollution, and substantially improve urban sanitation standards. The Minister instructed officials to design the project using modern waste management technologies that align with sustainable urban development practices.The Minister, accompanied by TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, took part in a high-level review meeting to discuss about the issues pertaining to the Gajuwaka Assembly Constituency at the GVMC Zonal office on Saturday (July 11, 2026). GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat, leaders from the NDA were present.As part of efforts to enhance public recreational spaces and promote healthier lifestyles, eight major parks across Gajuwaka will undergo comprehensive modernisation. The upgraded parks will feature open-air gyms, walking tracks, modern lighting systems, improved drainage, landscaped green spaces, and dedicated children’s play areas. The Minister directed officials to accord special priority to the parks at Harijan Jaggayyapalem and Sheelanagar.Sports infrastructure will also receive a substantial upgrade, with the Kurmannapalem Indoor Stadium and multiple playgrounds slated for modernisation to provide better facilities for aspiring athletes and local youth.Road widening projectsRecognising Gajuwaka’s rapidly growing traffic volume, the review placed significant emphasis on accelerating road widening projects across key transport corridors. Priority stretches include the Kakatiya ITI Junction–Shaivani School road, Jaggu Junction–Y Junction corridor, Old Gajuwaka Junction–Srinagar APIIC Junction road, Gangavaram Main Road, Vadlapudi Road, Kurmannapalem–Duvvada Railway Station road, and the Vantillu Junction–Jag Junction corridor.To provide organised and sustainable livelihoods for street vendors, the Government decided to expedite construction of a Smart Street Vending Market beneath the Kurmannapalem-Duvvada flyover. The project, estimated at around ₹4 crore, will house 70 modern commercial units, complemented by pedestrian-friendly walkways and essential civic infrastructure.As part of beautification works, three prominent intersections Vantillu Junction, Vadlapudi Junction, and Mathrusri Junction will be redesigned into modern traffic-friendly urban spaces, he said.
