MANILA, Philippines — The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) issued a statement regarding resigned basketball coach Thomas Anthony “Tab” Baldwin’s contractual status in the institution on Saturday July 11, saying it is a “proven record.”
The statement came after the clarificatory hearing of the Department of Labor and Employment on July 9, attended by ADMU’s legal counsel in connection with the drowning of student athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili during the team’s training activity in Aurora.
The university explained in a Facebook post that Baldwin’s engagement in ADMU since 2016 has been governed by an independent contractor agreement.
