MANILA, Philippines—The Ateneo de Manila University said Blue Eagles head coach Thomas Anthony “Tab” Baldwin and team manager Christopher “Epok” Quimpo have “gone on leave for the duration of the inquiry,” amid the school’s independent investigation into the deaths of student-athletes Rene Clert Baterbonia and Chukwuemeka Divine Adili.
In a statement on Thursday, the Ateneo said this is “to preserve the total integrity, independence and fairness of this investigation—and to ensure all participants can cooperate freely without any actual or perceived pressure.”
To ensure an impartial, thorough and credible review, the Board of Trustees ordered an independent fact-finding investigation.
