The survey, conducted across 715 districts during 2023-2024 by the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), details a massive demographic and developmental shift in the nation.
Addressing the media at the Consulate General of India (CGI), Kumar detailed how the focused execution of flagship welfare programmes had altered India’s public health landscape.
The most striking health statistics revealed a 65% reduction in India’s Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) since 2004-06, dropping to 87 per 100 000 live births. The Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) also decreased significantly, falling from 39 to 24 compared to the previous decade.
