German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz will attend a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on July 13 in Paris, dedicated to security guarantees, continued support for Ukraine, and ways to achieve a just and lasting peace.
This was reported by Ukrinform, citing the press service of the German Federal Government.
“Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz will travel to Paris on July 13, 2026, where he will participate in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing at 5:00 p.m. The meeting is expected to include an exchange of views on security guarantees and continued support for Ukraine, as well as discussions on pathways to a just and lasting peace for Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The following day, July 14, Merz will participate in events marking France’s national holiday at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The German chancellor will watch the military parade alongside Macron from the VIP stand on the Champs-Élysées.
As reported by Ukrinform, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to unveil new defense initiatives and joint military exercises at next week’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, demonstrating that Europe is taking greater responsibility for its own security.
