The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has expressed relief over the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were abducted, while urging the government to strengthen the country’s security architecture to prevent similar incidents.
In a statement on his verified X handle on Saturday, Obi thanked security personnel and others involved in securing the children’s freedom.
“I am greatly relieved and delighted to learn of the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped.
“I sincerely thank all those whose tireless efforts made their freedom possible, especially the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he wrote.
