Hakan Fidan told The National in an interview that attention had shifted elsewhere because of the war in the Gulf and that “we need to get more pressure from the international community to put on Israel to let Palestinians get more international humanitarian aid”.
Hakan Fidan credited Trump’s Board of Peace with halting genocide, but said it has fallen short on its aid commitments.
On Iran: He said the truce can still hold despite Trump’s announcement that it was over. He said there was miscommunication between the two sides over the navigation of ships in the Hormuz.
On Israel: Asked whether the rising rhetoric between Ankara and Tel Aviv could tip into open conflict, Fidan said, “There is no reason to have an open conflict.”
Fidan, however, reiterated that Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his political base were manufacturing an external enemy ahead of Israeli elections.
