Pallavi PurohitHaving played a mom in several popular daily soaps, Pallavi Purohit has always enjoyed portraying such characters on screen. She first won acclaim for playing Drashti Dhami’s mother in Madhubala–Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, a role that earned her rave reviews and awards. She is currently seen as the mother of lead actress Rachi Sharma in TV show Do Duniya Ek Dil. While she has embraced motherhood on screen, in real life, the actress has chosen to remain child-free.Pallavi Purohit‘I may choose to adopt a child in future’Married to a business analyst for the past 15 years, Pallavi is candid about her decision not to have children. The actress says, “It has been a very thoughtful and conscious decision. I believe motherhood is one of the most beautiful phases in a woman’s life, but only if she is mentally, physically, and emotionally ready for it. I don’t believe anyone should have children because of societal pressure. I may choose to adopt a child in future and give a home to someone who doesn’t have parents. I would rather provide a loving home to a homeless child than bring another child into the world. There are lakhs of homeless children across the globe who need love and care. Why not give them a home?”‘My husband and I are proud of our decision’Pallavi, who has no regrets about her decision, adds, “I’m fortunate to have a family that supports my choices and understands my feelings without being judgmental. Of course, people make nasty comments, but I never let criticism disturb my peace of mind. My husband and I are both proud of our decision. After all, it’s our life, and we have every right to decide what we want from it. As for my love for children, I have wonderful nieces and nephews, and even my neighbours’ children adore me. Their mothers often leave them with me when they go shopping or to the parlour because they trust me to care for them. I feed them, bathe them, and look after them with great love and attention. You don’t have to give birth to a child to experience a sense of motherhood. That’s also why I deeply admire mothers and the strength and patience with which they shoulder so many responsibilities.”
