Actor-turned-hard-right activist Laurence Fox has lost a bid to have a libel case brought by TV commentator Narinder Kaur thrown out, after he allegedly called her a 'braindead prostitute'.Fox, now better known for his online activities than his acting career, also alleged that Mrs Kaur had deliberately arranged for a paparazzi photographer to take a photograph showing her genitalia.Fox, 48, the former husband of Doctor Who star Billie Piper, faced civil legal action from Mrs Kaur, who leveled libel claims over 17 posts and videos on social media. She also sued for harassment, data protection breaches and misuse of private information. He also faces a criminal trial after allegedly sharing the paparazzi image online in breach of so-called 'revenge porn' laws.At a preliminary hearing of the civil case in June, judge Mr Justice Linden was asked to consider the 'natural and ordinary' meaning of the posts and whether they could be defamatory. Lawyers for Mrs Kaur, 53, said that some of the social media posts would be understood to mean that she is a hypocrite and a 'braindead, moronic prostitute' who had sold pornographic photos of herself. Fox's defence attempted to claim his comments about Mrs Kaur could not be defamatory, arguing: 'In reality, English society no longer has a consensus of disapproving of sex workers any more than it has maintained a consensus disapproving of gay or trans people.'In 2023, Fox made headlines after setting fire to Pride flag bunting in his back garden. He has been a hardline critic on LGBT+ rights and gender identity.His team added: 'Nor does English society consider selling photos on OnlyFans to be serious enough to substantially adversely affect someone's reputation.' TV star Narinder Kaur (pictured outside the Royal Courts of Justice last month) has filed libel and harassment civil claims against actor-turned-hard-right activist Laurence Fox Laurence Fox is also facing a criminal case for allegedly sharing an intimate 'upskirting photo' of Mrs Kaur to his 500,000 followers on X (file photo from February)His lawyers attempted to have the case thrown out, but in a preliminary judgment on Friday, Mr Justice Linden found that 10 of the posts could be defamatory, meaning the libel case can continue.Discussing one of the posts, the judge said: 'The allegation that the claimant was projecting a false image of herself to the public in her tweets, and had taken steps to conceal the truth about herself, is a clear attack on her integrity, her sincerity and the reliability of what she says.'Other posts were either found to not refer to Mrs Kaur or were not potentially defamatory.Fox's bid to have the data protection and misuse of private information claims thrown out will be heard at a later date.The pair's long-running feud publicly erupted in April 2024, when Mr Fox allegedly shared an intimate 'upskirt photo' of Mrs Kaur to his 500,000 followers on X, which Mrs Kaur described as like 'being assaulted every day'.He has since been charged under section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, in relation to the alleged posting of the photo.Fox, once best-known for his regular role in ITV's detective drama Lewis, has become increasingly hard-right and previously told how he was radicalised by YouTube videos crusading against 'wokeness'.He was dropped by his talent agency after a controversial appearance on Question Time in which he claimed an audience member who referred to him as a 'white privileged male' was racist.On social media he has repeatedly hit out at what he brands 'woke' culture, and previously claimed to have been cancelled despite securing regular appearances on GB News and various podcasts.He was fired from GB News in 2023 after making sexist comments on Dan Wootton's show on the channel about political journalist Ava Evans. In an extraordinary rant on live TV, he referred to her as a 'little woman', suggested she hated men and added: 'Who would want to sh*g that?'.Fox and fellow GB News host Reverend Calvin Robinson were both fired after Robinson supported Fox over the comments. Dan Wootton was suspended and later left the channel. Fox previously lost another libel court battle after labelling two individuals, Simon Blake and a drag queen called Crystal, 'paedophiles' on social media. He founded the Reclaim Party in 2020, which gained its first and only MP in Andrew Bridgen in 2023 after he was expelled from the Tories for comments comparing the COVID-19 vaccine to the Holocaust. Bridgen left months later.Fox has stood for election three times: in 2021 for the London mayoralty, in the 2023 Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election and in 2024 for the London Assembly.Each time, he failed to receive enough votes to receive his deposit back. He also attempted to stand for the London mayoralty in 2024, but did not fill in the nomination forms correctly and so was barred from running.
