The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Friday.
According to him, the incident occurred around 9 a.m. while the victims were working on the building.
“As a result of the collapse of the building, one person lost his life while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Abdullahi said.
He said three victims were initially rescued from the rubble, while emergency responders made efforts to reach the fourth person trapped beneath the debris. The victim was, however, later found dead. Eyewitnesses said workers noticed signs that the building was about to collapse while they were working on the upper floor and immediately fled the site.
