Cape Town's LGBTQ+ nightlife earns global recognition as two institutions join Time Out's prestigious list of the world's greatest queer venues.
Cape Town has spent years building a reputation as one of the world's most welcoming travel destinations, but its queer nightlife has often received less international attention than its beaches, wine farms and restaurants.
That changed this week when Time Out included two local venues in its inaugural ranking of the world's greatest queer spaces.
The list focuses on places that have become genuine community anchors rather than simply popular nightlife destinations.
Among the venues selected were Café Manhattan and The Pink Candy Nightclub, both based in De Waterkant, long regarded as the centre of Cape Town's LGBTQ+ social scene.
