Colo giant Equinix is developing its tenth and eleventh data centers in Zuidoost, southern Amsterdam, the Netherlands.A draft decision approving the construction of two data centers was published on June 30.AM9 and AM10 will be built in Amstel III, a former office park being redeveloped as a mixed-use neighborhood.Equinix intends to source 80MW of power for the campus, but the data center will be built in phases owing to grid congestion in the area.“The initial build-out is limited to approximately 25 percent of the total permitted development and focuses on the first tower,” said an Equinix spokesperson. The managing director of Equinix Netherlands, Michiel Eielts, told Dutch newspaper Het Parool that electricity consumption will be capped at this level until 2036.Equinix’s Amsterdam data centers are located in Amstel III (AM1, AM2, AM5, AM7, AM11), Betondorp (AM6), the Science Park (AM3, AM4), and in Sloterdijk (AM8).
