South African comedian Dalin Oliver brings his real-life airport nightmare to the stage in Stuck in Dubai.
After South African comedian Dalin Oliver was stranded in the United Arab Emirates, it wasn't just a travel nightmare; it became the perfect punchline to kick-start the next chapter of his career.
Fresh off a successful Australian run and securing a third Ovation Award at the recent National Arts Festival in Makhanda, Oliver is finally unpacking his baggage on-stage. His new stand-up show, Stuck in Dubai, officially hits the road internationally this July, marking his most ambitious global tour to date.
For audiences unfamiliar with Oliver's recent travels, the title of the show is entirely literal. In this latest hour, Oliver explores how humans handle genuine airport chaos rather than minor travel logistics and uncovers the humour found in embracing the unpredictable realities of an airport.
"Every comedian hopes life hands them stories worth telling," Oliver says. "I definitely didn't expect getting stranded to become the inspiration for an entirely new show. Looking back now, what felt incredibly stressful at the time has become one of the funniest experiences of my life."
