The first look teaser of the much-awaited Japanese actioner, Godzilla Minus Zero, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (July 10, 2026). The film is a sequel to Godzilla Minus One and is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki.The teaser picks up two years after the explosive events in the last part as soldiers are shown to be turning to the nuclear bomb in order to stop the destruction caused by Godzilla. The teaser doesn’t reveal much but gives a gritty glimpse into the film where Godzilla makes a deadly appearance towards the end, looking bigger than ever, as it rises from the sea.As per a synopsis shared by the makers, “Godzilla Minus Zero picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity.”The upcoming film will also mark a technical milestone, as it is being produced for IMAX, becoming the first Japanese Godzilla installment to receive the format. It will be released in theatres in US on November 6.Godzilla Minus One was both a critical and commercial success, earning over $100 million worldwide and becoming the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The film’s reception elevated Yamazaki’s global profile and set high expectations for the sequel.Returning cast members include Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe, among others.
