DA MP and newly appointed Agriculture Minister Willie Aucamp says the party remains united after leadership changes saw John Steenhuisen moved to the Trade, Industry and Competition portfolio, insisting that ministers “come and go” in politics.

Aucamp said there was no fragmentation within the party despite the recent changes in the DA’s Cabinet representation.

“There are none. I can tell you I’m on the federal executive of this party, and the decision that was taken was accepted unanimously. If you look at party structures, leaders come and go,” he said.

“Ministers come and go. That is a reality. In politics, a week can be a long time and a year can be a short time. You have to serve the people of the country. That is what is expected of us.”
