Charlize Theron says being South African made her 'direct'.
If there's one thing South Africans know how to do, it's have an opinion. So when Charlize Theron suggested that her direct personality might come from being South African, you just knew people were going to have something to say.
During a recent interview, the Oscar-winning actress admitted, "I'm not very good with small talk," before explaining that people often mistake her directness for being cold.
"Sometimes when I walk on set and I'm that direct I think people take that as me being cold," she said, adding that she's actually "a softy at heart".
Theron also revealed that people are often surprised to learn she's emotional and affectionate with her children because they expect her to be, in her words, "a b****".
