Greece’s installed wind power capacity exceeded the 6 GW milestone at the end of the first half of 2026, according to the latest semi-annual statistics released by the Hellenic Scientific Association of Wind Energy.
According to the report, installed wind capacity reached 6,017 megawatts during the first six months of 2026, after 65 new wind turbines with a combined capacity of 320.6 MW were connected to the grid, representing investments of approximately €400 million.
This marked a 5.6% increase compared with the end of 2025. The figures also mean that almost as many wind farms were connected to the grid in the first half of 2026 as during the whole of 2025. ”This is a positive development that demonstrates the resilience of the sector.
It reflects the efforts of wind energy companies, their employees and the scientific community, who continue to develop and implement projects in a demanding environment marked by numerous obstacles and bureaucracy,” the Hellenic Wind Energy Association said.
