Pakistan is urgently seeking to purchase a shipment of liquefied natural gas after fresh hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz again disrupted supplies.

State-owned Pakistan LNG issued a tender to buy a cargo for delivery on July 15-16, with offers due Friday, according to a notice on its website. The tender was approved by the government on Wednesday after a shipment from Qatar scheduled for this month was canceled, according to traders with knowledge of the matter, asking not to be identified discussing private information.Traffic through Hormuz has ground to a near halt after the US conducted strikes on Iran for a second day following Iranian attacks on vessels in the waterway, including on an LNG tanker. A ship with a Qatari shipment bound for Pakistan aborted its journey through the strait earlier this week.
