MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) is building 380 mechanical drying facilities nationwide, marking the government’s largest investment in postharvest facilities, which is expected to yield around P6 billion in annual income for farmers.
The DA said the mechanical drying facilities will be fully operational in time for the 2027 wet harvest season.

Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization assistant director Joel Dator said they have completed the procurement for the initial 230 units expected to be operational by end-2026.
