Grayscale Chief Financial Officer Edward McGee has resigned after seven years with the crypto asset manager, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
His resignation became effective on July 2, with the company stating that he stepped down for personal reasons and that the decision was not the result of any disagreement concerning Grayscale’s operations, policies, or business practices.
Grayscale has named Kathryn Masci and Daniel Plourde as interim co-chief financial officers. Masci, who joined the company in 2020 and most recently served as senior vice president of finance, will also assume the roles of principal financial and accounting officer and board member. Before joining Grayscale, she held finance and accounting positions at Garrison Capital, Pzena Investment Management, and Ernst & Young.
Plourde joined the company in 2022 after serving in senior roles at Gabelli Asset Management and State Street Global Advisors, and has also acted as assistant treasurer of the Grayscale Funds Trust.
The executive transition follows other recent management changes, including the departure of former distribution head John Hoffman, who joined Ondo Finance, as well as Grayscale’s decision to pause its planned initial public offering because of market conditions.
