Shares of energy companies fell as oil futures gave back some gains.
The U.S. and Iran continued to exchange fire, with the U.S. bombing drone and missile installations near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran fired on Kuwait and Bahrain, where the U.S. maintains bases. Traders are betting that the latest flareup will not derail the June peace deal and that the strait will remain open.
