Shares of energy companies fell alongside oil futures amid anticipation of a nuclear deal between the U.S. and Iran.

President Trump accused Iran of shooting down a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz and said the U.S. must respond to the attack. But Trump has also indicated that the two sides had made progress on a deal that would address Iran's nuclear program.

BP named Gordon Birrell as the head of its upstream division and Richard Harding as interim head of downstream as it pushes ahead with an organizational restructure intended to simplify how it operates and speed up decision-making.
