The United States carried out a second consecutive day of military strikes against Iran after President Donald Trump declared that the memorandum of understanding intended to halt the conflict was effectively finished. The renewed attacks followed an escalation that began after Iran targeted commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Washington to launch another wave of military action.
Late Wednesday and into Thursday, Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations along the country's southern coast, including Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Bushehr province, Abu Musa Island, Konarak, Chabahar, and Kish Island. Some areas reportedly experienced power outages. The US Central Command later confirmed that American forces had completed another round of operations, saying they struck approximately 90 military targets designed to reduce Iran's ability to threaten maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM said the campaign was ordered directly by President Trump and emphasized that the objective was to protect freedom of navigation. "The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping," the command said, adding that US forces "remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief."
