School Education Minister Rajmohan on Thursday directed that no one be allowed to enter school premises unnecessarily. He said in a statement: “Except for official events organised by the government, no birthday parties or non-government events should be held. No political parties or private organisations are allowed to meet students directly.”This follows a backlash to a video of an inspection carried out by Minister S. Keerthana at a school in Sivakasi on July 2, where she was seen criticising students for their response.Pointing out that every moment a student spends in the classroom is precious, Mr. Rajmohan said the department would soon issue detailed protocols for conducting events in government schools. He added that anyone entering the school or directly meeting students during class hours for any reason should be completely avoided. Published - July 10, 2026 12:31 am IST
