Hasan Piker came up with a wily way to get answers about Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his health status amid rumors the 84-year-old may be in critical condition following a hospitalization last month.The progressive political streamer, who has been an all-consuming obsession of conservative media as of late, tried to bait the senator into coming out of hiding by claiming they were having a torrid affair during Wednesday’s edition of his daily Twitch stream.Riffing on the news of the day, Piker joked that he knows McConnell is alive and well because he “was sexting him last night” and “can’t wait to go to D.C. and see him.”“Go ahead, Mitch. Deny the relationship if you can,” he goaded. “Oh really, you got a problem? Deny it. He can’t. He’s shy.”McConnell hasn’t been seen publicly since June 14 when 911 was called to respond to an “unconscious person” who was believed to have had a heart attack at the senator’s Washington, D.C., home address. In audio from the dispatch, which was made public on July 1 and does not name McConnell directly, a medic says there was “CPR in progress” before more medical personnel arrived.The senator’s office has released few details on his current health status.McConnell, who is planning to end his four-decade Senate career when his term concludes in January, has had a number of health issues in recent years.He was hospitalized in March 2023 after suffering a concussion from a serious fall and again this February after coming down with flu-like symptoms. In recent months, the senator been seen using a wheelchair on and off during visits to the Capitol.Piker’s questions about McConnell weren’t limited to his spicy livestream claims.Sen. Andy Beshear sent a letter pleading with the senator’s camp for “transparency,” saying citizens of the Bluegrass State are “increasingly concerned” about his well-being and his ability to hold office.Meanwhile, while speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said he has “no idea” how McConnell is doing.
