Some disabled welfare claimants could see their cash benefits replaced with therapy or employment support following a landmark review of personal independence payments (PIP).
Ministers are considering alternatives to payments for some claimants, such as quicker access to NHS treatment, specialised equipment or support getting into employment, The i Paper understands.
The Timms Review interim report – commissioned to evaluate the PIP system after Sir Keir Starmer’s botched welfare reforms last summer – has concluded that the disability benefit “dehumanises” people and requires “radical” overhaul.
