MEC Martin Meyer has highlighted the KZN Department of Public Works and Infrastructure’s commitment to rebuilding trust.

Under the leadership of KwaZulu-Natal Public Works and Infrastructure MEC Martin Meyer, the department has undertaken a concerted effort to shed its previous reputation of corruption, inefficiency, and distrust.

Meyer was speaking at the site handover for the construction of a psychiatric hospital in Port Shepstone this week. He said the KZN Department of Health trusted them with the project, which was a key step in rebuilding trust.

Recognising the trust deficit that existed when the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) took office, the department has focused on cultural and operational reforms to rebuild credibility.

Meyer said he was aware of the department’s bad reputation, but they have gone out of their way and, in two years, seen improvement.
