A 32-year-old man is set to appear in court after his vehicle was linked to multiple house robberies and a serious rape incident in the Western Cape.
A 32-year-old man faces serious charges in the Somerset West Magistrate’s Court after police linked the vehicle he was travelling in to multiple house robberies, including a rape incident.
Police said robberies occurred in various locations, including Bothasig, Table View, Stellenbosch, and Kleinmond.
According to Thembakazi Mpendukana, spokesperson for the Western Cape police, a targeted crime-combating operation by the Somerset West Crime Prevention Unit led to the discovery of the suspect's vehicle.
“The police spotted a grey Honda BRV that was linked with the above-mentioned cases on the N2 Road on Wednesday, July 8, at about 5.45am. An attempt to stop the vehicle was made, but the suspect drove at high speed in the direction of Cape Town using the N2,” Mpendukana said.
