The Madlanga Commission is hearing testimony on Thursday from Dr Albertus Schoeman, a World Bank anti-corruption expert, on the financial disclosure regimes that apply to senior officials within South Africa's criminal justice system.
His testimony will focus on whether the current disclosure framework is effective in detecting corruption and preventing criminal infiltration of the justice system.
Schoeman is also expected to recommend reforms aimed at strengthening oversight and accountability within the criminal justice system.
"The Commission will today (Thursday) hear testimony from an anti-corruption and governance expert on the existing disclosure regimes applicable to senior officers within the South African criminal justice system and what reforms to these regimes are necessary to combat corrupt infiltration of the criminal justice system," commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels said.
