A woman who loves a charity shop haul shared her latest second-hand bargain after spending just £5 on a mystery bag – but she says she always draws the line with one item08:43, 09 Jul 2026If you're a fan of a good charity shop bargain, you'll know all too well just how time-consuming the hunt can be. Yet shopping in second-hand stores not only helps support a worthy cause close to your heart, but also allows you to snap up affordable items at the same time. One savvy way to bulk-buy clothing — whether for yourself or to resell — is through charity shop donation bags. One woman, known as Danielle, spends a great deal of her time scouring thrift stores for all manner of items, including tops, shoes and dresses. Just recently, she took the plunge and purchased a £5 kilo bag, which remained a complete mystery until she finally revealed its contents. She told her 165,200 TikTok followers: "I have a problem when it comes to charity shop mystery bags because I just can't resist them and look how many there were to choose from."They were £5 each and it's stuff to choose from that's been on the shop floor for 2 weeks and hasn't sold. I've never seen a shoe mystery bag before so I got one shoe and one clothing bag."Turning her attention to the clothing bag, Danielle had "high hopes" for the £5 haul, which she also described as a "gamble", before revealing the one type of item that is strictly off-limits for her.Delving into the bag, she continued: "Can't lie for a fiver this was what I was expecting - Shein. Did find a Zara shirt which I really liked and that retailed for £39.99. And then a used swimming costume, personally I draw the line at second-hand swimwear."I bought an anime T-shirt, if anyone wants to tell me what that's from. Unfortunately, can just feel when you've got a Shein item, it just feels like plastic."George tops are fine to wear around the garden and I did really like this little Primark top and then got quite a few old Bonmarche T-shirts which weren't in the best condition."Again a little bit of Primark but in good condition, another Shein zip-up jumper thing, brand new M&S cotton jumper, little F&F top again."When talking through her haul, Danielle admitted she "isn't seeing much stuff which is sellable". The mixed sizes also make it trickier to resell the items. Nevertheless, she still managed to snap up 25 items for just £5.Content cannot be displayed without consentCharity kilo bags explained:Charity kilo bags give shoppers the chance to "fill a bag for £5".
