Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka says her office is working around the clock to finalise its investigation into suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.
Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka says other investigations and the unavailability of key witnesses have delayed the probe into suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, but she insists that her office is working around the clock to complete it.
Her comments come after the African Transformation Movement (ATM) called on Parliament to summon Gcaleka to explain why the investigation, nearly a year after a complaint was lodged, has yet to be completed.
Speaking to the public broadcaster on Wednesday evening, Gcaleka said the investigation was at an advanced stage.
“First and foremost, the Public Protector does not file an interim report. The Public Protector either tables intended adverse findings or intended findings that are not adverse in terms of Section 79 or Rule 41, which gives the other side an opportunity to make representations.
