Three people were killed and multiple others injured in a US-Israeli strike near Ahvaz, the capital of Iran’s Khuzestan province. Among the dead was a child, with several family members also wounded when the strike hit a residential area.
Blockchain analytics flagged a sharp spike in outflows from Iranian crypto exchanges in the hours following the strikes.
What happened on the ground
The strike near Ahvaz is part of a broader campaign of US-Israeli military operations targeting Iranian military and industrial infrastructure across multiple provinces, with Khuzestan bearing a disproportionate share of the damage. The province, home to much of Iran’s petrochemical and steel capacity, has been hit repeatedly throughout early 2026.
Damage was also reported at petrochemical facilities in the Mahshahr zone. Hundreds of casualties have been reported by Iranian authorities across the nation as a result of the ongoing military campaign, though independent verification of those figures remains difficult.
