Television’s biggest night has already brought some surprises ahead of the with the 2026 Emmy nominations revealed Wednesday.The 2026 Emmy nominations were announced Wednesday, recognizing several of the year’s most acclaimed series across acting, writing, directing and series categories. Awards show darling The Pitt brought in the most nominations with a whopping 25, while newcomer Widow’s Bay also landed an impressive number.But some snubs were impossible to ignore. Besides Zendaya’s nomination for best actress in a drama series, the final season of Sam Levinson’s HBO hit Euphoria did not receive any major nominations. Heated Rivalry was also left out of the nominations, but that came as no surprise due to the fact that shows must have been produced in part by a U.S. studio to be eligible (the steamy hockey drama was fully financed in Canada.) However, it did not stop breakout star Connor Storrie from nabbing a nomination for best guest actor in a comedy series for his hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.Nominees for Outstanding Variety Series and Outstanding Reality Competition Program were announced earlier during NBC’s Today show, unveiling that the final season of Stephen Colbert’s late night show is up for best variety series.Mariska Hargitay will host the 2026 Emmy Awards, making her the first woman in 15 years to do so (AP Photo/Jordan Strauss)The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on NBC September 14.
