FC Barcelona has been monitoring Adeyemi’s situation since 2021, with interest resurfacing through 2024 and 2025, as Dortmund’s attempts to lock Adeyemi into a longer-term deal have hit a wall.
The deal on the table
Adeyemi originally joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in July 2022 for a fee reported between approximately $30M and $38M. In 115 appearances for the German club, he has recorded 29 goals and 22 assists.
His current contract runs through the summer of 2027. Dortmund has been pushing to extend that deal through 2029, but negotiations have stalled over a key sticking point: Adeyemi and his agent, Jorge Mendes, reportedly want a release clause included in any new agreement.
In the current 2025-26 Bundesliga season, Adeyemi has three goal involvements in his first six matches.
