Bulgaria’s Ministry of Finance has launched a new debt issuance on international markets worth €2.5 billion, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Galab Donev announced after a meeting of the Parliament’s Budget and Finance Committee.

Donev said the operation is in line with the higher debt ceiling approved by Parliament under the extension law, which allows Bulgaria to increase its borrowing limit by up to €3.8 billion in 2026.

The newly issued debt is divided into three separate tranches, with maturity dates set for 2032, 2038 and 2042.

Donev described the achieved yields on the three debt instruments as highly favorable for Bulgaria, saying they would not create significant long-term pressure on interest payments.

“The yield achieved for each of these tranches is extremely good for Bulgaria,” he said.
